I use 4.10s in my car as a daily driver, nearly all highway miles, and my gas mileage dropped a whopping 1 mpg from what i had using stock gears. Get 4.10s and don't listen to the BS put out about horrendous gas mileage drops from those who don't have, and have never had, 4.10s.
dont 4got about the fact you hav a mach 1 so your stock gears were already 3.55,and im sure it was probly a lil more then 1, switching from stock 3.27s to 4.10s is going to cost about 2-3mpg , not horrible but still a drop non the less
No, mine only dropped 1 mpg on average. We also installed 4.10s in my wife's '04 V6 which had 3.27 stock gears, which is also used as a daily driver, and it dropped about 2 mpg on average.

I put in 3.73's in mine from 2.73' and my damn mileage dropped like a rock- but because I cant keep my foot off the gas pedal. Trust me, if you are changing gears, your mileage will drop, unless you want to drive slow ALL THE TIME. The only reason I say that it will change is because your looking for more speed and once you get the new gears in, you will be on it all the damn time. So, yeah, gas mileage drops. Everybody here knows it, but will tell you that its just a "tiny" drop... trust me-

i said that about exhaust. I thought it made my gas mileage worse when all along it was just my foot smashing the gas pedal just to hear my engine.

I swear the way some people respond to others not wanting 4.10's...you'd think they had stock in the companies that make 'em.

You are full of sh*t and need to staple your mouth shut if you say you have the same gas mileage with 4.10's that you had with 3.27's. I'm not against them and just may purchase a set but, don't lie to people asking honest questions.

No, no, no!

Gas mileage will not go down and top speed is debatable. Get 4.10's or 4.30's.
r u ok kid?? gas mileage WILL GO DOWN IF YOU DO CONSTANT HIGHWAY DRIVING, the higher the gear the more rpms u turn in higher gears resulting in more gas being consumed , however if u only do short drive around town from stop light to stop light then 3.73s or 4.10s will do just fine. IF you hav an auto id go 4.10 and 3.73 in a 5 speed, UNless u take several trips to the track i would not go with 4.30s they WILL reduce the life of your engine and cost you top speed as well as gas mileage

Kid?

Take a look at the video posted by MCMotorsports on Modular Powerhouse. He had 4.10 gears and was supercharged pushing a good amount of boost and showed his gas mileage and the gas bill on the video. He thanks Modular Powerhouse for the excellent tune he had just recieved because he is still getting 25mpg with 4.10's and the blower.

Again, the gears will not cause a dramatic drop in gas mileage. Your FOOT will, not the gears. It's your decision whether or not you want good gas mileage, same as what you do with your car every single day. Your car is still capable of 23-25mpg(highway) with 4.10's if your not into it all the dang time.

I've had 24mpg myself numerous times, mostly highway. If your only getting 18 or so ALL highway (if your not flooring it all the time), you should really look into your car a bit. You should be getting way better.

Hell, I just filled up today and had 18mpg all city...and that's with several races with a group of guys (S/C Viper ACR, C5-Vette, WS-6 T/A) on the way to the dragstrip. We were full throttle numerous times and messing around till we hit PIR. Then, it's also with a ton of playing around on city streets and going full throttle numerous times to see if there was any pinging. I just had the car tuned and have been beating it more than I ever do. Still managed 18mpg with 90% city...

Are there any driveability issues between 3.73 and 4.10's?? All I ever seen is worries about mpg and top speed but how does the driveability compare?
