not sure what you're trying to accomplish with your ride. you just want something cheap? autozone sells stickers, fart cans, cheap tint, air fresheners...check out the sticky mods for beginners

Stay in school. Get an education.

Read the sticky about this, as Uber already referenced.
"You gotta' pay if you wanna' play."
"You get what you pay for."

As far as cheap mods goes, the best bang for your buck would be an O/r Mid pipe since the stock 96 had 4 cats and 2 resonators.

Im sure you could score one really cheap used.

Gears are always good but expect to spend about 500 bucks after a rebuild kit and install for the gears.

You can probably score a mid pipe for 100-150 bucks, maybe less.

U/D pulleys work as well....ive seen a car pick up around 10 rwhp and tq from underdrive pulleys on a dyno.

Thanks for trying to help out Uberstang and Justin Schmidt. I agree with what these guys have already stated.

It seems that some people around here were never kids.

yea.. I mean obv. your not goin to make any kinda of real power on the cheap but things like an O/r Mid pipe, U/D pulleys, and gears can wake the car up quite a bit and can be had "cheap"

Not so cheap on a 8 dollar an hour job but you also didnt say your were trying to make 500 hp cheap lol
