Default Thinking of trading in my GT

Well I've had my GT for almost 2 years now, but I just don't want to spend so much money to make it fast. Lately I've seen some real nice Lightnings around and I think I want one lol. You think it's a good upgrade, if any? I've been looking at the 2001-2004 models which are rated at 13.6at the 1/4 mile I believe. I don't race much, and if I want to make the truck any faster it would be easy to do so. Should I consider this? The only draw back I see now is that they are only available with auto trans.

Put a blower on your GT and you should be in the 12s.... At least thats whatalot ofpeople get.

If i remember right the Lightnings are pretty pricey compared to a GT.

An 01 with ~50K miles will go for about $14K around here. I'm guessing a blower would run me about $5K which would be right around what I'd have to come up with after I sell my GT. I don't know though, I'm still not convinced lol. Talk me out of it if it's a bad idea.

its got more power, but a MUCH heavier vehicle, its a truck. You can get a blower for much cheaper than 5K, you can buy one used or build your own setup for around 2K.

https://mustangforums.com/m_3332042/tm.htmthats how to aquire a blower for MUCH cheaper

yeah a blower for the mustang would be cheaper and you would be faster and you would still have a manual. It isnt always fun sitting high!

well that's a hard question. The lightning isn't much of a truck since it can only handle 800lbs. in the bed. So I guess I want fast, and can me made faster for cheap.

Here's another thought: I originally wanted to upgrade to a Mach 1, but a Lightning somehow found it's way in to my brain. ShouldI go for a mach instead or still slap a blower on the 2V? To be honest a blower is a little too much for me. Like i said I want something fast that can be made faster for cheap. I've heard those 4V take bolt ons pretty well. So I guess it's bolt on mach vs. pullied and intake Lightning.
