Default RE: I just ordered a Kenne Bell supercharger for my 01' GT

I have 4.10s and they were a little on the squirley side with procharger @ 400rwhp. Street tires were just rediculous even running 295s. I am definitely gonna be switching to 3.55 maybe 3.73 after the engine swap and boost increase. I can't imagine having a solid 400rwhp on a twin screw setup with 4.10s unless you have suspension and some MTs.

well.... the car may run mid 13's with a kenne bell and underdrive pullies. lol. it could be faster with the stock pullies considering that you will have to put a small ass pulley on there to try and run the same boost. lol. also.... why did you buy a new plenum? it will not work with a kenne bell. also the throttle body may not fit like what was said before. also have you thought of buying stuff like injectors and a fuel pump? you could blow your motor without that extra fuel you will need.....

The kit comes with fuel rails, injectors and boost-a-pump.

Default RE: I just ordered a Kenne Bell supercharger for my 01' GT

When I purchased the plenum and throttle body, I did not think that I would have the supercharger funds until late summer. I was just trying to crack a mid 13 second pass in the quarter, just to whittle it down a little. I got my funds toughter sooner (last week), so I jumped at the chance before I spent the cash on somthing else. I ordered th 2.1 Kenne Bell polished kit, which I had planned on later adding the shiny billet throttle body onto. The polished kit comes with a boost-a-pump, but planned on installing a larger (and better) fuel pump than the stock unit. I do not want to starve on fuel at the top end of the track, the car would fall flat on it's face. The intercooled kit also comes with the 9psi pully, but I am going to buy the 11psi pully and quick change tool. The Kenne Bell kit also comes with larger injectors, the lower intake and pretty much is a drop in unit out of the box. I will probably only run the 11psi at the track with better gas, and run on the street with the 9psi pully. I am going to try the Kenne Bell chip that comes with the kit, and see what kind of numbers I pull on the dyno. If the KB chip does not work well, I will opt for a custom tune. With a custom tune and the 11psi pully, the install shop will try to pull me in around 430hp at the rear wheels. With stock internals (for now), you really do not want to push it much past this number. I plan on some drag radials, sub-frame connectors and light suspension mods to launch the car. The polished intercooled kit itself was around $5,600.00 (without install), I am having a KB dealer do the install. I will also install a driveshaft safety loop, so I do not catapult down the track someday. I still have the stock exaust on the car, but plan on installing a stainless Bassani system very soon. What kinds of suspension mods, do you guys think would be good for my setup?

Dave.

I also forgot to mention that I have a larger MAF on order, which the dealer told me works great with this KB setup. I hope it works well with it, that unit alone was more than I thought it would cost. I will have to see when all is installed, and the rear wheel dyno gives me some numbers.

I suggest getting a rear end girdle as well. It's cheap insurance. I busted my rear end because of the ring gear flexing away from the pinion. Some adjustable shocks, adjustable upper and lower control arms and a set of drag radials will work fine for your suspension. Remember the tune KB sends is just a caned tune. You really need to put it on the dyno and get a custom tune to dial everything in perfect. Make sure you put your stock pulleys back on before the install.

Is there a specfic reason why I need the stock pullys back on the car, for the installation? I saved everthing stock that I have removed from the car thusfar, just in case I needed them down the road. Where is a good place to get the girdle from (no funny comments here), and what is the good one to get? Aslo where can I get a good pair of adjustable shocks and control arms, and what brands are available for my car?

Dave.

You have to change the pulleys back to stock because the underdrive pulley on the crankshaft will slow the supercharger down a lot. The pulley on the charger is designed to work with the stock crankshaft pulley. If you leave the crankshaft pulley stock and put the underdrive water pump and alternator pulleys on it will overspin those which will mess them up. I got my girdle from Summit. They are cheap insurance. I got my adjustable arms from them as well.

Thanks for that information with the pullys, and I will look at Summit for the other items.
