Default yes its another speed-cal/gear question thread

all right i just got some good news yesterday that has changed alot of stuff for me, here we go. my wife got promoted yesterday at her work she will now me in charge of all the hiring in louisville ky for speedway gas stations with about a $10,000 raise.so we are moving to elizabethtown ky into a house with a two car garage so i can now do my own clucth install myself. i now have 300 i have saved for my clutch install to spend and since i am still having my diff replace with a new ford diff im thinking why not just do the gears now insted of paying 200 now for the diff install and 200 later for the gear install. im going with 4.10's but ive heard mixed reviews on what brands to get i was thinking ford racing from American Muscle and a speed-cal to fix the speedo. i really hate to ask but what do you guys think???? has anybody done a speed-cal install on there own car if so what all is involved???? any pics???

and to wrap this long azz boring gear thread up
i have decided to buy the spec stage 2 or maybe 3 clutch disk. since i havent used the stage 1 ive got, spec states that allthere clutches use the same pressure platesso all i would need is the new clutch disk. and my ford throw out bearing and pilot bearing's showed up yesterday. the spec throwout bearing that came with the clutch has 1/4 inch movement in the casing where the ford has none!!!! that was arepair waiting to happen!!!! sorry for such a long post but i didnt want 2 diffrent threads

AND YESS THERES A 03-04 COBRA IN MY SIGHTS IN 8-10 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!

I just bought a set of JEGs 'brand' gears and they are running nicely.

Also installed my own speedcal and its easy as pice man. You'll get a nice set of instructions with it and it ought not be hard at all.

Contact me when you do the speedcal and I'll help you if you need it.

i would go with the tuner but i only have 475.00 saved for the install of the diff and gears, thats 200 the gears are 180.00 from am and the speed-cal is 100.00. i would try to convince my wife that i have to have it but she said once the 17 credit cards are payed off i can buy a 04 cobra or a 05-08 gt so im not going to push my luck too much!!! thanks for the help guys!!

I have the speedcal and gears set from AM. The speedcal is not hard to install. They give you directions. The only thing i had to do is call them to get a new code for the speedcal cause they updated all the codes. You will probably have to do the same thing. Other than that it works fine and hasnt givin me a problem yet. Also its dead on accurate.

what code do you have to update???? i was thinking it had dials or something like that you just set for the gear ratio you have.

Inside the speedcal box there are little switches. Theres ten of them. Call them or try the code they give you and then you just flip the switches to the correct setting. But like i said in my earlier post just call them to verify the number. Cause mine was different. Also make sure you tell them what tires your running.
