Default stock h pipe removal

I have all the bolts off except for the one PITA passenger side one at the manifold. I can't seem to find an angle where the socket doesn't slip off. Its so f*cking frustrating..anyone have any tips on how to get that damn thing off?

Hey. I had the EXACT same problem. After buying a breaker bar, wobble extension, various deep well sockets, U-joints, etc. I had a semi stripped, but still solid loint. Here's the solution - go to Sears and buy their stripped bolt removal kit. It's a five or six piece kit that sells for 19.99. I got it on sale for 14.99. You will need the #9 socket. Also buy a 7/8" regular socket (not deep well) to hold the stripped nut removal socket. I used those paired with a 10" wobble extension and a 17" 3/8" breaker bar and lots of P&B. It popped right out. Frustrating lesson to learn.

Not sure. I know that impact sockets are longer than regular sockets, but shorter than deep wells. I couldn't find a single 15mm impact socket, though. And, impact socket kits with 15mm were running $35 and up. I just know I was stunned at how easy the nut loosened up with the method I gave you prior. Go to Harbor Freight and you can pick up a 17" 3/8" breaker bar for $8, a 10" wobble extension at O'Relly's for $10 and you're done. By the way - I got zero torque from the U-joint.

if you have access to a lift it makes it a whole lot easier which goes without saying, i tried doing it in my garage on my back; when i ran into that PITA passenger bolt i gave up and waited until i could get it to my buddy's shop, we had it off in 5 minutes. goodluck man.

so u joint plus stripped bolt removal socket=me just being more pissed off. you are definately right. Theres not using a u joint theres just no way to keep it straight enough without it popping off. Looks like I'll be getting a wobble extension in the morning.

I ended up getting mine off with a u joint and 2 extentions. Well 2 u joints cause we broke one friend punched himself in the face with full force when it broke was kinda humorus at the time. There is nothing else to say other then get the car as high as possible the higher the easier.
