Default got a 98 cobra and code p1516 imrc came up need help?

can i clean it if so how or do i have to get a new one please help thanks

IMRC's (Intake Manifold Runner Control) These are the plates that go between the intake and the heads. They stay closed up until 3250rpm's and open up to allow more air to get into the combustion chamber. They get all gummed up and need to be cleaned or your controller could have gone bad and they are not opening.
This is what they look like. Your's will be plastic on a 98 4V but they look like this
Mine are missing the butterflies that go in the oval ports because most 4V people delete them because they are such a pain in the ass

dont some people do IMRC deletes? what does that mean? take off the IMRC's

Very common problem with the 96-98 Cobra's. Just open up the intake and clean the carbon deposits off the IMRC runners themselves.

I guess you didn't read my post above yours?
Yes we delete them. look at the pic I posted there should be butterfly valves in the oval posts. You take the plates out and fill in the holes left by the shaft with GOOD epoxy.

yeah it messed with your torque curve alittle bit really i thinkt here is no loss or gain it just moves it a little bit... i could be wrong.


and OP i've been having some problems with my car and i was thinking about cleaning my IMRCs (didn't see it in title first time sorry) are there any other symptoms to your cars running other than the Code?
