Thanks for the tips guys, unfortunately I cannot do any internal motor work so a cam is out of the question. I would be building the car for SCCA Solo and run it in ESP so I am very limited on what I can do motor wise. Like I said, full exhaust, throttle body forward and some kind of tune is about as much as I can do. I figured there might be more tuning available with the newer 4.6 motor compared to the 5.0. I was mostly wondering what guys run exhaust wise, tune wise, intake wise. I had some ideas and starting looking around but I wanted to know what is all hype and what isn't. I was thinking a C&L CAI, Kooks full length headers in to some exhaust system. I just don't know what or who to go with for an engine tune.

Yes I definitely know that. I already have a plan for the suspension. Figuring out the drive-train is the last part that I am doing research on. I am not new to Solo, just new to Street Prepared classes because I have always run in stock class.

And an ESP prepared car is prep'd pretty well for track events also, so I would be getting a 2 for 1 out of the car while not cutting up my 06

i wish i would have run solo stock first before i put mods on.. im way to far in with mods..i have no chance of winning in the street modified class. i didnt discover autocross till after all the mods

Well It's ok you can still go out and have fun, try running as a novice a couple of times.

Then you can go and try running in SM. Even if everyone else is faster than you it's a hell of alot of fun.

code3GT did it... with every possible mod, stepped tube headers, etc etc etc and a pretty unstreetable setup. If your doing it on a DD.. prepare to buy a beater to acutally drive around.

so far as the OP's original question, IMO there is no doubt that a full bolton 2v > full bolton 5.0. You will never see 260~ WHP out of a full bolton 5.0 with all the internals stock.

ehhh you might be underestimating the 5.0s a tad bit with the 260whp thjing, I just have a feeling. No proof but for some reason I feel you should reach more with full bolt ons(if you mean heads/intake also of course)

5.0s are DOGS untill you do a h/c/i swap. anyone who has had one knows that.. The only thing that saved them is they are a little lighter

just strictly bolt ons a 5.0 will get left in the dirt every time by a 2v PI
