This seems kind of rediculous to me. What's so far fetched about a basically stock suspension 60'ing in the 1.6's? There are way faster 60's out there from stock style suspension cars. I keep reading how it can't be done with the stock springs, but the springs aren't as bad as they're made out to be. Dime has drag shocks and struts, control arms, and Mickey freaking Thompsons! Spraying nitrous, a 1.6 seems pretty typical.
With lakewood shocks and struts, LCA's, and M/T street radials, my car pulls low 1.7's all day, and a 1.6 would easily come from more power out of the hole, maybe even from a gear swap. Stock springs work great for a budget suspension, just cut them to the height you want.
It seems people either praise or criticize what Dime does at the track. I just don't see what's so hard to believe.

I think there are two underlining theories behind all of this. First mode of thought is, bigger is better, and you should throw caution to the wind and buy the expensive parts so you know you have the best.
The second mind frame, is get by with as little as possible. And build the best car for the least money.
Neither are wrong, it's just the difference in people and it shows how the difference spills into how the manage their car.
You also see this argument with people who buy used parts. Some people are appalled at the thought of buying used parts, personally I think it's a great way to save some cash.
dime maybe you have to make a cool video like Trevors 12.1 run. go to a little dinner have someone ask what youll run and then you have to record it all and make a cool vid haha. I just installed summit upper and lower control arms and i will tell you that they helped A LOT. Like dime said they may not be the best out there but for 100 bucks they are pretty damn good.

I Agree Completely.... (maybee not Gears Used) but MANY parts are WAY Cheaper used... I mean as soon as you take a new part outta the box its no better than the used one (Value Wise).
Was the 5k In suspension worth it? Nope. Hind sight is 20/20
could I have done it for less? hell yes, I could have done just the IRS swap (kept it stock), coilovers for the rear (already had the fronts), gone with less sticky tires, and dialed the boost down, and I could have been running the same lap times.
Would I have broken something? Possibly, most of the money I spent was on bracing for the IRS.
so are you saying you wasted money on building up your IRS or what? im a little confused
im not being cocky, or saying im a ****in god or anything. im just a little pissed off right now. and really want someone to prove me wrong
hell if im wrong, the set up now will go in the trash, and ill upgrade.
really sorry dime. that thread really wasnt a call out on you or anything like that even tho im sure thats the way it came off. i just wanted to have a diccusion to make sure i know for sure what i want b4 i drop money on it.
btw the deciding factor for me was this....
do i spend 500 bucks on summit control arms and get lakewood shocks or just some better brand control arms?
pretty sure ill be faster with the first choice....
