+1 Ford can easily produce a 400hp n/a car.. but they dont because of price. look how much that 350z costs for a base model..then look at a mustang gt most expensive price.. they are about the same lol. Ford is a poor mans sports car.

What Ford needs to do is bring back the Cobra or Mach 1 to fill the gap between the GT and GT500. That way you can get your 400 HP N/A muscle at an intermediate price point.

This is true. In fact, toyota already proved this by making an answer to the Lightnings/SRT10s of the world.

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...est/index.html

This truck proves that theory is correct. The new Z comes with, what, like 332hp? Isn't that what the commercial advertises? That's more than 70 more hp then our 99-04 GTs come with. That's MORE THAN THE NEW GTs COME WITH! AND IT'S IN A 6 CYLINDER!

Economics. It's extrememly affordable compared to anything in it's class. Think about how much more a charger/challenger/G8 is in comparison. They are nicer cars all around with more power, but you get what you pay for. The mustang is geared toward the younger crowd and is kept that way with it's affordability. The more power they add the more expensive they become, thus losing appeal they have to the younger consumer and become lost in the mix with the the 3 mentioned. How many 16-23 year olds can afford a challenger/charger/G8 compared to a mustang GT?

IMO, I would much rather have my $8,000 used 2001 GT, strap a $4000 blower on it and have a car that will beat just about anything I come across on the road.

People always question why Ford doesn't make the cars faster.

Why would they?

Mustangs out sell their competitors. Mustangs are everywhere whether they are sixxers, GT's or Cobras.

Ford is in the business of selling the car and if the car is already selling at its current price then why change it?

Yeah, and Honda would also charge an insane price! They overprice everything, so that doesn't say much. Plus how do you figure they do things they could never dream of? The new Camaro will be 422hp for a 32k car! That is really good compared to Ford's embarassing 315hp! It's not that American companies can't dream of it, it's that they typically are cheap, which resorts to americans buying foreign cars. Chevy learned this the hard way, which is why they no longer are trying to offer "lackluster cars" as they put it, and are actually making cars, with appropriate power to put down their foreign counterparts.

They can muster more, but they are arrogantly conservative! Regardless, a mildly modded New Edge has the torque to pull a 370Z out of the hole. I don't think they really are that impressive. Keep in mind, that and the S2000 are both 2 seater cars. So the Mustang can hang with it with 4 seats, and more weight.

If they dropped the modular 5.0 "cammer" motor they offer through their Ford Racing division, they would destroy all the competition. Why they don't is beyond me! They could easily offer a next level GT (maybe a Mach 1, or Boss again) with that engine for $5k over what a standard GT is. I guarantee they would sell like hotcakes! Resale value would be consistent as well!

I would really like to see honda put out a V8.

Anyway, to change cars just because you can't get some rotors off is pretty lame.

On a side note, I would really love to get a chance to drive quite a few import "sporty" cars (on a great day, of course).
