is it a smoothe finish?

I used VHT on mine.

Worked great, easy to do, smooth finish.

Check the vid in my sig if you want to see them. If you want them darker, simply add more coats

It is smooth. I just cleaned the taillights and sprayed it on. What you can do is wet sand in between coats and apply clearcoat to get a little bit smoother finish.

I've been thinking about doing this but I've "heard" that by tinting your taillights you jeopardize the insurance if someone was to rear end you. Any truth to this? If I do it I will either use the spray or try my luck with a roll of tint and a heat gun.

As long as you can see your taillights from the specified distance by law for your state, I don't see any problems with it.

I have always been hesitant about tinting my tails for insurance reasons as well. My brother and his buddy had the snot rear-ended out of them in his buddy's sport trac with tinted tails. Don't know how/if that came into play with insurance, but it just always stuck in my mind everytime I thought about tinting mine.

I used vht then clearcoated them.

I didn't want to make them too dark but if I were to do it again I would probably have put another coat on them.

i also used VHT on my 6er... it came out GREAT but it wasnt the look i was trying to get.. on the GT, i bought stangmods smoked overlays... they dont even cover the whole light.. im probably going to rip them off and have them done professionally.. a little black with clearcoat and just keep spraying light coats
