Default tb vs plenum

so i was thinking about getting a plenum tb combo but ive heard that the tb really doesnt give you the hp, its the plenum, so realistically why would i purchase a tb and not just purchase a plenum ?

come on... think about it dude:

you can only suck in as much air as the smallest point in the pathway.. if you dont upgrade the tb your still only taking in 65mm worth the air.

I just bought a C&L plenum. Kept the stock TB. It is true that the intake elbow is the restriction of the 2. Unless you do head work or change the intake manifold itself, or install a power adder, there is little gain from a bigger throttle body.
I dynoed right after changing the plenum and it did lean it out enough for a retune. Its a cheaper, easy upgrade so everyone does it, needed or not.

listen to cliffyk, he knows his stuff.

The t/b + plenum combo will gain you some hp's though but for the price it's the same as any other bolt ons
