Default Hi all, I have no fule pressure and in need of some help

I found myself here refered by another great member of OCN... for those not in the know it stands for Overclock.net

So I posted my problems over there and a friend over there BlackOmega suggested I give this forum a shot... Well more or less see if any one has any experiance w/my problem and the best sequence of steps to diagnose the problem...

I have a 98 Mustang GT 4.6L 5spd...

My car wont start. It has been sitting for about 3-4 months w/a dead bat. So I went to start it today and nothing. Mind you it always started right up in the past and the last time I started it of course. Well It acted like it wanted to start at first. I mean it gave a very quick sputter when I first put the jump box on the battery to start it, folllowed by nothing...

So I checked the normal things...

Fuel fuse under hood.

Fuel reset switch in the trunk

Theft light when key is turned on for more then a few seconds and it goes out. This tells me that it is not the computer not detecting the resistor in the key...

So I did the following.

I checked the bleader valve on the driver side of the fuel rail and it had zero pressure... easy fix if I can figure out why I have not fuel pressure right.

So that is what brings me here to see if any one else has encountered similar problems and what you were able to do to resolve the problem.

Thank you,

N2G

Welcome to the forums. Check the area for your car. The people that hang out there know a lot more than some of us.

you need to check your fuel pump, and realys to see if one or the other is bad but most likely it will be your fuel pump because it sat in all of that old gas

Guessing the 4.8L must be from a rebuild.

Take the battery out and take it to a autozone or somewhere they can test it and make sure it is charged and can hold a charge before you start trying to diagnose other issues. Here is a example of why i mentioned this. last year I took my ranger to work, when I was leaving it wouldn't want to start and even with a Jump It would not start. I had to run to a auto store and get a new battery and started up fine. start with the basics first.

heres a better question... why did our friends S197 driving mod decide to move a thread about a 98gt (regardless of engine size mistyping) into the 5.0 section

And to the OP. you need to jump power to the fuel pump connector off the inertia switch in the trunk. I had a similar issue with a friends 99 gt, it ended up being the feul pump control module (not a relay) in the trunk
