i wouldnt do it because im never going to drive around with a headlight out on the street. i always ran my cars (before the stang, havent ran it yet) in street trim for that same reason

Yes, I'd say as much as a tenth in the 1/4 in cool weather. In hot weather the difference between the underhood temps and outside air temps is less so you gain less.

The Mach scoop is in a low pressure area and is restrictive.
The underhood filter can get a good shot of cool air from the fenderwell or removed headlight.
