Default cams and heads

from what i understand, cams give you about 35 rwhp, and heads give you about 35 rwhp. so thats like 70 rwhp (around there, i know it can be more). correct? what kind of gains could i expect if i did just the cams, put them in the factory heads? im assuming they can handle stage 2 cams?

you wont see anymore than 320-330rwhp if your lucky. not worth the money imo, spend the same amount if not quite a bit less and have a blower or have your bottom end forged if you already have the blower

That's a pretty generalized statement and not entirely accurate. Ported heads with stock cams will not give you anywhere near 35rwhp gains. My Stage 2 N/A will give you about those gains in stock heads. You would need to change valvesprings to run the cams .

ok, so if i put your stage 2 NA cams in my stock heads and change the valve springs i would gain about 35 rwhp? how much would i gain if i changed the heads as well? do you have head/cam packages? can i get some prices? im very interested in doing the cams, im just unsure if it is worth the money to do the heads as well, im looking to stay NA and possibly add a 100 shot of nitrous down the road

Alot of gains depend on how good the tune is. The Stage 2 N/A and ported heads usually make 310-320rwhp..depending on other mods, tune, etc. The Stage 2's also LOVE the spray. I do have ported head/cam packages. I also now have a Trick Flow/CMS Power Pack..where you get the new TF heads,TF Intake and any CMS cam. I think with the TF Pack people could see 330-350rwhp fairly easily. Here is a link to the head/cam packages:

i see the stage 3 setup offers more horsepower and only costs another 200 bucks, is stage 3 too extreme for daily driven use? what do you recommend i go for, i currently have KN KIIR power intake, bassani ceramic coated optimum length headers, bassani xpipe with high flow cats, slp cat back... adding soon professional products 75mm tbody + plenum, steeda UDP, and 3.73 or 4.10 gears, havent decided yet... if the money permits id love to do the heads and cams but if i do the cams first i could always do heads later, the heads may push me a little over budget =/

The Stage 3's are on the big side for a stock motor. Plus, they need a +.020" to work, the extra large intake valve will hit the stock bore. Stage 2 heads and Stage 2 N/A are more than fine. Yes, you could do heads later on if the budget is not there to do both at once.

ok, im looking at going with your stage 2 NA cams, now is this something i would be able to install myself with a mechanically inclined friend and then drive to a place to be tuned? since i know the tune is important. would i cause any damage driving the car after installling the cams without a tune. i would most likely drive it straight to a place to get tuned.

Im sure you and your friend could handle it....just takes some time and some patience. You would be fine driving it to get tuned..just don't beat the snot out of it until its tuned.
