swap x-pipe with h-pipe to rid raspy sound?

The problem came when you said that a ProChamber had basically the same sound as an X-pipe. That is simply not true. That is why I questioned if you have in fact heard them in person.
Roush2002, I honestly think your overall problem is coming from the Magnaflows. If I were you I would switch out mufflers first, as the Magnaflows won't give you the deep tone that your looking for with any mid-pipe. Have you looked into Spintech? I'm pretty sure they make a muffler that is front in/front out....

you are right. I went to mustangexhaust.com and listened to all the clips with magnaflows and yes the ones with o/r h's sound deeper and better than the ones with o/r x's. I think im gonna put the h on there and see what it does. im getting my a/c fixed today and even he said that the h is deeper and the x is more raspy sounding (this place works on lots of stangs)

The exhaust shop guy didn't really know what he was talking about. Backpressure is not your problem and backpressure has nothing to do with the sound waves.
It sounds like you're going to be happy with either an O/R H or a O/R Prochamber.
An H sound a little more defined and clean than an X because the sound waves do not mix as much with a H crossover. With an X the sounds are forced into each other more so causing the raspy sound. The H is still loud, only appearing slightly quieter than the X because the tone is not as high pitched. A prochamber is going to almost eliminate the rasp completely, making the depest tone, but the quetest as well out of the 3 styles of midpipes. The prochamber crossover is just as the name states, a chamber. This chamber causes exhaust gasses to mix, but also acts as an additional resonator or hollow muffler.

i am leaning toward the o/r h. the guy at the custom exhaust place makes his own h's. i am not sure if thats a good thing or not. he does not have a mandrel bender but he said their is no bends really in a h pipe. he still swears that an h pipe is more raspy than a x and the a h is not deeper than a x either. but he did say something interesting that most all x pipes sold are not true x pipes and that they merely cut off the side of 2 pipes and weld them together. im going to meet with him on friday to let him hear it and see what he thinks. if he cant convince me 100% that he can get me the sound I want them i am not going to do anything and just leave it I guess. seems like all the best clips i hear are with flows or macs so maybe its just my exhaust I dont like, period.
