Default What's the difference between "polished" and "chrome"?

I remember a while back that Wheel Replicas sold 17" Bullitts in a "Polished" finish and a "Chrome" finish. What's the difference? Anyone know?

Polished are aluminum wheels with a high polished finish. Chrome wheels are obviously that, chrome plated.

Yep, polishing is just the conditioning of the metal, removing all the imperfections

Chrome is an actual plating process that coats the metal in a reflective coat/finish

Hmmm. I can't imagine they look too pretty when they're not clean though many wheels look gross when they're dirty I have a feeling they look worse. Maybe... maybe not. I thought they'd be similar to a "brushed" look.

My hunt for new wheels continues on.

A "Brushed" look is just a rough version of polished. polished is just done with a the finest abrasives to get it as smooth as a baby's bottom so that it shines.

Polished alloy wheels, without any protective coating, suck big-time!--you will spend the rest of your life keeping them looking good...

I figured so. It's too bad. It's hard to be different without having to spend a **** load of money in terms of wheels. Anything outside of Bullitts, FR500s, and Saleens seem to be $200+ a wheel. Perhaps I'll just have to STFU and go with some black Bullitts or something. Whatever it is, they will be 17 inches.

I will sell you my BBS Matt!

I am looking to go for RPF1's but I need to sell these. They are 17x9 with tires. Falken Azenis.

Sorry brah, I'm looking to go deep dish for the rear! I've been really interested in the hypercoated bullitts that AM sells but am not too sure. I finally have enough cash to get new wheels because even though I like my Mach 1 replicas I want to try something different.
