Question Difference in 1999-2004 GT engine and 2005-2009 GT engine

I was thinking of buying a newer (2005-2009) GT. I was wondering what the difference, if any, were there in the two engines? Is the engine they put in the 1999-2004 GTs the same as the 2005-2009 GTs? Thanks guys.

I think it's the 3v heads and intake. Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but it's the same block.

the 3v's in the 05+ GT's also have VVT (variable valve timing) and a throttle by wire system. and they also dont have plenums, just the throttle body. thats just the motor-ish stuff

The 05+ uses a 3v SOHC head design combined with VVT (variable valve timing).

Is the 3v and VVT worth the upgrade? A friend I was talking to said the newer engines were built better but after reading what you guys said they are very similar, right?

Basically the same. the 3V's have an aluminum block. Basically the same internals, but are 9.8 compression.

I wouldn't upgrade the car for the engine alone. But there are plenty other reasons, if you like the body style better, it has a nicer interior, and obviously a newer car.

That's what I wanted to hear. Does everyone else agree?

If it's worth anything, car & driver recently did a shootout between the new camero, mustang and challenger - the stang won. The general concensus was that ford basically had more time to dial in the car (and yes, that's with the solid rear). The glass coupe roof is pretty cool looking too.
