+1, gear ratios were different, and didnt the 96-98 have mechanical speedo's? I would personally get the promotion t-45, i am getting that eventually, for the 1600$ thats a heck of a deal imo. Save up get the promotion, call a few car buddies and swap it in there. SO as far as the 96-98 tranny's fitting, not so sure, plus your still buying a used tranny, you dont know if there may be something else about to go on that junkyard tranny. You cant be cheap on our cars, it just takes time to save to get things done right, and get them done the first time.

The speed sensors are different although both electronic they don't read the same values. Your Speedo wont work. Either chalk up the dough to do it right or you'll be doing it twice. Guaranteed

the add for that promotion t45 is about 1/4 the way down the page. And i dont think that is with shipping but it does not require a core IIRC.
