how to get into the 12s??

Thats a good start, exhaust is key though as well, you will want to open her up a bit to take full advantage of the intake mods. Gears would be very beneficial as well, good for a few tenths in the quarter mile. Those things run mid 13s stock, so I would say if you could get some stickier tires, that also would drop a few tenths. Basically,
get: Tires, Gears, Tune, CAI, TB, Exhaust-you would definitely be able to reach 12s no prob. Unfortunately, Im not very familiar with how well S197s respond to mods, as compared to new edges like mine. You should try posting this in the S197 section, and you should get better feedback. Good luck!

I'll post my mods on a new build and the experienced can make an educated guess and maybe help the thread starter and myself too.
Teksid block with Nick McKinney heads(210/175CFM) with an SVO intake sitting atop the motor with forged and balanced assembly with 11.4:1 compression. Cams are Comp 230*/234* on a 110*LSA on a 106* centerline. Steeda UDP's and a DIY RAI/CAI finish out the mods except for Edelbrock victor LT's. The gears are 4.10's and the converter stalls at 3800rpm. Tune is from Brenspeed. Car is a '99 VERT with me it is #3700. 12.99 Possible?
Well I got a 13.65 with an extra 200# in 80-* temps. Less than 100 miles but is it alltuning for me or does anything stickout as not good? I know I can whittle it down to a 13.5 myself and a 55* night with 200# less could knock off another .3-.4.
Does anyone have before and after DYNO tunes? Worth the cash and time? I have a wideband and have the idle pretty good myself. I question the SVO and think I should have used some silicone when I placed it on the gaskets. May have a tiny vacuum leak, MAY! Next time it's off and will get new plugs and check compression soon. THX
