Default Unexpected dyno day...

So today i get a call from my tuner and he told me they were running a dyno day at his shop for one of his friend's bachelor shower...since his wife is having a bridal shower. So I was invited, along with my dad, to bring out cars up and just chill. Well my dad didnt come because he didnt feel like it but i went anyways.

I get there and there is nothing but turbo supras and supercharged or h/c/i or both f-bodies and corvettes and stuff there. So, just outta curiosity i asked keith how much he was charging that day and i got 3 runs with a/f(which ended up not working) for $50.

So I ran my car to an astounding 249rwhp and 255rwtq. Then followed that with 247/262 and 247/263. The air/fuel didnt work and it was reading an a/f of 14.8 the whole time so i dont know what that is but it should be good cus it was just tuned with the catted x pipe on and i just took the cats off so it should be a little rich if anything.

All this was out in the 90+ degree weather right after it rained. So the conditions were FAR from even being decent...let alone great. So what do you guys think of my numbers??? The torque is low because i now have a set of 4.10's in...which is not in my sig yet. But judging from the mods in my sig with some HEAVY 18" wheels, what do you guys think??? Is it a pretty good number??? Keep in mind...this is without tb/plenum, longtubes, or udp's. Next on the list is probably gonna be the tb/plenum upgrade as far as power is concerned but that wont be til next summer probably. Focusing on looks for right now.

Sounds like a pretty cool day. $50 is a great deal for 3 pulls

Your number seem right on par they are a little on the high side. The hp is pretty high compared to the torque. I'd be pretty pleased.

EDIT: I don't want to call you out, but just inform you. 4.10 gears or any other ratio has a minimal affect on rwhp or rwtq (no more than 5whp/tq). the only change would come from the amount of parasidic loss produced by the gear.

well from what ive seen, the rwtq is affected by gears a lot. I was making 238/281 untuned with stock gears and now im running 244/263 with gears and a tune on a horrible horrible day for numbers. And i just realized that my power curves are slightly odd. The torque carries right around 250-260 from 3000-5000rpms and im making peak power at 5000rpms. I dont get it. I thought that the curves should have crossed somewhere around 4800rpms and the torque would fall off where the power picked up. I will have to post a picture of the sheet to get you guys to examine it and let me know whats up cus im puzzled.

On every dyno graph which has tq and hp on the same chart using the same scaling will cross at 5252 rpm because the formula for HP is HP=(TQ*RPM)/5250.

Also go ahead and post a sheet. I always love looking at pictures. lol

Yeah, the gears should have a minimal effect on your numbers. The hp sounds about right, but that tq number seems way off. It should not suffer like that because of gears.

$50 for 3 pulls is pretty good though.

BTW, how do you like the new gears?

could a stock clutch thats shot to kingdom come have any affect on the torque number??? And my peak power was made a 5000rpm and peak torque was made at 4900rpm. I will have to take a picture because this thing looks messed up to me from looking at my stock sheet to this one. And i thought that the tq number was really off.

Oh, and i took videos of the first 2 runs so i'll let you guys see those too. As well as a video of keith's GT500. So you can hear what the car is doing and see if there sounds like anything wrong. I thought i heard the clutch slipping a tiny bit in the first run and a little less in the second run. But i have been pretty hard on this clutch so it might need replaced here soon.
