OEM smooth finish. Save your money, and your brake pads. Still stop very well. Use the hawk ceramics with OEM style rotors for sure.
I want the slotted rotors for aesthetics. However, I've read conflicting statements about the impact slotted rotors have on pads. Do they really shorten the life of the pad?

Care to post a link? The only ones i saw were almost 1300$...for the front, the same for a kit for the back. This was calipers and what not of course, but I didnt see anything else. I dunno they changed their site all around now, its completely different. I also went to ssbc's website, and the prices were the same, like 12-1500$.

Well, this unfortunately is something I myself am not 100% sure on. I ahve owned only one set of slotted rotors, they were from EBC. I used EBC greenstuff pads(i think), this was on my Ranger, which was as fast as my mustang, and 4wd to boot, so it was heavy and I needed stopping power. That being said, I didn't noticed very much difference between the EBC slotted rotors, and the OEM finish el' Cheapo's I bought for 1/3 the price. I used the same pads on both sets, and neither seem to stop any better than the other, however, I will admit I had less brake fade with the slotted. As far as wear,...the slotted definitely SEEMED to wear faster, but I did not track my miles, and of course they were changed before the needed to, since I wanted pads that caused less dust. Now, I know some companies, such as POWERSLOT, claim that the slotted rotors actually EXTEND the life of the pads, due to cooling and keeping brake dust off the surface of the rotor. Yet, I still read on forums, and hear from peers, that the pads wear faster with slotted. This could just be due to the application, the fact that it is on a high performance vehicle, and the person is likely abusing the brakes on a regular basis. I can't say for sure, as I am no expert. BUT, all that being said, in my personal, non-professional opinion...Yes, I feel that slotted rotors do cause brake pads to wear faster. Thus, for the cost, I have been choosing OEM style finish. If your choice is merely aesthetic reasoning, I would say get them, if thats what your budget allows, and you dont plan on being overly aggressive on your vehicle. IM sorry if I have just thoroughly confused you, haha, but I hope I may have helped a little bit.
