Thanks for all of the replies.

We'll race and then I'll post up the outcome.

I personally think that you are going to get eat alive. The GTO's are porkers, but still, he has something like 90HP on you.

umm...been there done that, with a similar mod list to yours...from a 40 roll my car got raped...badly...we didnt do any dig races

it was a 6 speed with a tune, thats it...and it was piloted by a 100lb chick lol

i would say up to 100 you would lose by 3-4 cars, and probably another car for every 10mph after that

**edit...i think i was racing a 6.0...but either way, ide still say its going to rape you

It won't take alot more than what you have to beat a stock 04 GTO. Honestly, i think some long tubes, and 4.10's gears (and some damn good shifting) you will take him. After the top of 4th he'll get you no matter what though.

The GTO (depending on year) has two issues, 1. It has a heat soak problem where it will start to cut timing as the underhood temps increase, it is something about where they put one of the sensors, it just has to be reloacted. 2. Torque management. It is like a souped up version of TCS for us. Doesn't allow the wheels to spin and retards timing when it notices it. Buddy has a 06 6.0, fixed both, now runs 13.2 with only exhaust and springs.

not sure how you will fair against the 5.7, but I don't even try those 6.0s.

EDIT: acutally, I did see an auto 6.0 the other night that couldn't get under 15.x for the life of him, of course that car was sitting on 21s and he couldn't drive if I had a .44 pointed at his noggin. Funny fact, then he wanted to take on my friend after watching him lay down a 13.23

3.73's = you win. The '04 GTO's are LS1. I got in a race with one earlier this year from a light and blasted him for about a quarter mile. He started catching up to me after that, and would have passed me if we kept going. I also regularly beat my friends 2001 auto Z28.

The outcome with the GTO is exactly what I expected. My gears give me a big advantage off the line. His higher HP lets him catch me at the top end. If we had of went from a roll, he would have won. Raw numbers are not everything when it comes to the quarter mile.

By the way, I remember when the new edges were new, every magazine was getting the same times out of them. Basically 14.0 to 14.1 at 100 MPH. I think the 3.73's alone are worth four tenths in the quarter. That puts you right in the range of a stock '04 GTO, and most stock Z28's.

My real world results seem to back this up.

The curb weight on that car is 3821, add a 205, and your over 4000lbs. Thats a lot of weight to move, and a 60+/- crank hp difference might not be enough to get fat a$$ moving out in front of you. Could be a drivers race.
