Default Safe RPM's on Highway

Hi forum.

Kinda new to the 4.6 ltr.
My question is I do alot of highway driving to work.
My Stang is a 99 stock motor beside exhaust and CAI.

My Stang has 4:10 gears and on the highway I usely travel at 2500 rpms which is about 68-69 mph ( feel like im going slow )

But my main question is the 281 ci (4.6) sounds like its going to blow up around 3000-3500 rpm ( not use to such a small cube, ex chevy guy and 350's dont sound like that)

Is it safe on a stock motor to drive at 3000 rpm on a 50+ mile trip on highway?

BTW I love the 4:10s and dont want to change them because of highway driving( just too fun)

Thank Members..Love this forum its been a great stay and cant go wrong with a Ford Mustang GT Im very happy to own one

i couldnt imagine staying at 3k on the highway for a short period much less a long one. I would feel like I was asskicking my poor horse to death. Im not saying its a bad thing im just saying i wouldnt like it and I doubt my horsy would either.

Thats funny ****.
exhaust is flowmaster 40 series with a catted H pipe .

Also forgot to say my Stang is a T45 5 speed .
Thanks for all the help members,Just not use to these "real small blocks". Fords period!!
Like I said I "WAS" a Chevy guy and owned plenty of 350 small blocks which really take a lot to rev unlike this 281 ci and 4:10.
I do still own a 93 Corvette and that has 2:95 which I gave to wife because I just love this damn Ponycar more

Corvettes are over rated anyways kidding

So it sounds like 3k rpm is ok on Highway, guess now i can break the speed limit a little more

really thanks all , this forum is #1 on my list just like the Ford Mustangs

I run on the interstate at 2800-3000 all the time. I doubt that it would hurt it to drive all day long at that rpm. (Note: Before overdrive transmissions motors were expected to run all day at that rpm.)

You could drive at 3K rpm all day long, everyday, and it's not going to hurt anything, assuming your car is maintained properly and everything in good order. My previous car was an Integra GS-R and that thing would run over 4K at 80mph.

I dont like going over 2500... for mpg reasons. You could probably drive around at 4K all day long and not have any ill effects

TRADE MY Mach 1 HOOD + scoop set up for easy GT install (attached, no intake system necessary, unless you want it) for a COWL hood and maybe STOCK + CASH (but probably not). The hood is painted silver, in great shape, does need a color sand, but thats no biggie. Would prefer a swap for a silver one, but will consider many options. Need to trade due to changed plan on this car. RTP/Greensboro/Charlotte
