if book time is 4-5 hours and they charged you $622 for labor seems about right as JR said as well as other people, you grenaded this thing and there was extra work apart from book time, even cutting the bearing off to not damage the bearing surface they could of charged an extra .5-.8 hours maybe even a full hour. i imagine they took some warpage measurements which are out of book time as well. plus wheel bearings and seals. doesnt sound like u got a bad deal but more so lack of communication.

After reading the last OP post, I have to say it does sound fair now. It just wasn't a gear swap, it was a repair, which def would allow over book time. And it is one of those things, they wouldn't really know how bad it is until they get into it. The only fault I could find with the shop is they didn't call to tell you there would be and increase and why. Other than that, $600 isn't that bad for what was done.

there was no real damage to the housing just it ate into it a little bit. they never said they did any checking or anything of the sort. i finnaly got ahold of the guy and he said he was going to check with his mechanic and call me back the next day and once again i never recieved a phone call from him. i took the pictures and pinion to another shop that charges 250$ for labor and they said that they still would have charged 250$ for labor it was no big deal.

I paid $650 for a gear install and I supplied everything but they had to undo and redo my watts link which takes about an hour each way

good luck, if you were not in the service you would not have a chance on winning this case.

I still dont think he has a chance in hell, theres nothing in writing. Unless the judge sides with the lawyer just because he's a military attorney, which would be nothing short of complete BS.
