Well the stroke on these motors is their only saving grace. I have driven trans ams and z28's with LT1 and LS1 and they all kick a GT's azz. I guess bigger motor and more HP is the reason LOL.
Originally I owned the 03 GT and it got totaled in a wreck, so I went and bought the '96 and it was so dang slow it made me sick. The guy I bought the '03 from said it had a chip in it. I assume he is telling the truth since the traction control is disabled and the 9.29 in the 1/8 on bald street tires is faster than any other completely stock GT I have seen.
We stripped the '96 and the '03 down to the empty shell inside and out. swapped every wire, every module, every single component, engine, transmission, rear-end, door lock actuators, entire hydrostatic brake system, heater boxes, k-frame, suspension EVERYTHING. So technically I own an 03 hidden in a 96 shell. It was a very rewarding but labor intensive swap.
I was able to retain and use my x-pipe, headers, CAI and ecu tuning to the 96 car. I didn't state in my sig how it was tuned because I dont know.

PSSST- no it's not. They are higher numerically. The high and low refers to the gear ratio number. Now, if you are talking about TALLER or SHORTER gears, the more teeth there are on the ring gear- the taller it is. For simplicities sake- I use the numbers.
