Doing an oil change...

Fram oil filters use CARDBOARD as a spring, that alone should be enough to NEVER ever consider using it. For something as important to the engine as the oil filter is, why would you try to save a couple bucks on it? Fram is total trash, from top to bottom. Theres a price difference for a reason, not because people LOOOOVE buying fancy over-the-top oil filters, its because fram is sub-par. You need to get yourself a motorcraft F820-S oil filter if you like a working engine.

Wow... s**t that is depressing that they use cardboard. Well, you know if they sell the Motorcraft one or any other good one at Autozone or Advance Auto etc? They didn't have the right type of K&N or else I would have gotten that

<---Stays away from fram, mobil 1 makes a good filter i personally use bosch filters, probably not as good as mobil 1 IMO but they are half the price. My last engine saw nothing but castrol GTX (it was cheap and i drove alot) and bosch filters and it ran until the day i took it out at 437,000 miles....

There is an oil forum on here.
Personally I use Mobil 1, Purolator, or Wix filters, and won't turn down the Motorcraft filter if I have to... but never Fram.
And I don't believe everything BobIsTheOilGuy says either... but that is another subject.

I the fact that the sludge was purple is funny cause the dye wears off after a couple of miles.
