Default Let my girlfriend shift my car

So I was driving earlier with my girlfriend, with her in the passenger seat. I have been trying to teach her how to drive stick lately by letting her drive my Honda stick shift. I was in the Mustang earlier though, and I let her shift my car into 3rd, into 4th, and into 5th. When I told her to go from 5th to 4th though, she tried to enter the shifter into Reverse because she forgot that 4th gear was over and back.... The shifter make a sharp grinding noise, but nothing other than that. I was going maybe 60mph. How bad is this for the transmission? Really bad? Probably... fml

It's not a big deal as long as you don't do it repeatedly. The grinding was just the transmission saving your *** from replacing it.

i taught my ol lady to drive a stick in a jeep, by parking her on a hill and telling to figure it out, and before long she was a pro, then i graduated her to my cts which is a five speed, and she drives it more than me now

There is a vid on Youtube somewhere in which a FWD something or another, MUST have gone 2nd~1st and did a major wheel stand (in reverse... or rather... forward?, well, you know what I mean) and cannot imagine that this would not have blown the trans or expelled the engine straight out from under the hood. As far as the video shows, it seems OK, but cannot say for sure.

Jazzer-jackin' the thread a bit... sorta

If she's in the passenger's seat there's only one lever she should be pulling--and it's not the shift lever...

^^ Typical Cliffy with his words of wisdom lol

I let mine shift sometimes but that's about it. I taught her how to drive it in her neighborhood once and she did great. BUT I don't really have the patience to keep teaching her lol so that was the last time she drove it. It's ok though - she would rather be taken for a ride anyway
