Default Kenne Bell VS Turbo

Im just starting a poll here on what you guys have to say about the two. Ones a kenne bell 2.1 supercharger ive been looking at for awhile and the other is a mostly complete turbo kit from on3performance.com. Ive only recently herd about the turbo kit but it makes a lot of power and very cheap. The kit goes for 1999$ where the kenne bell goes for 5000 brand new. Im wanting to make around 400 approximately at the wheels and was liking the fact that the kenne bell makes low end boost and power where turbos have to spool up up first to make power. Anyways now im leaning towards the turbo becuase of price. All thats needed for the turbo to work is a k member and some fuel injectors. Any insight into what you guys think I should do or choose or cons and pros would be helpful. Thanks and heres the link to both websites. Also after hearing about turbos more people seem to say their more fun!!

If you are looking at only 400 hp i'd choose the KB hands down! I love the idea of constant and immediated boost throughout the entire powerband.

I'd take the turbo, but would read the reviews on it more. You should upgrade some stuff on it... And run a 62mm turbo, for only 400rw... Ppl are getting full boost at 2k... And the turbo leaves tons of room to upgrade

I vote KB for low end power. OP I'm from Saint Louis too, what shop do you use for dyno/dyno tune?

2 different animals, neither is "better".

turbo will likely beat the KB in a 1/4 mile. the KB will be much more fun for driving around town though, plus you get that bad ass wirring noise. the KB will actually make you lose some gas mileage around town (not only will you be boosting all the time, but having the SC on the accessory belt). turbo won't interfere with your daily driving at all, and will have mad power in the top end when you get on it. but won't be as fun around town.

its all in what you want out of it. for fun on the streets i'd say KB. for more potential turbo.

theres a couple other things you will need for the turbo plus it will be much harder to install than the KB kit. KB comes with everything you need.

i think, a k/b will be faster at same hp level as turbo. but with a turbo u can adjust alot easier. if u have the know how how, then u can get ur car tuned and then adjust the boost more and adjust ur tune to make it work. im not against any form of forced induction (f/i) but i personally like turbos and nitrous. nitrous would help ur bottom end and the turbo would take u the rest of the way. either way u need to build ur bottom end, why? cause ur gonna want more and if u get one crappy tune then ur stuck like chuck up sh!ts creek without a paddle.
just my .02 cents

ive seen the on3 kit and i have to say it looks very poorly designed around the suspension. It doesnt even have a mounting bracket for the ebay turbo. I talked to the guy that owned it and he said he had to bang on the car in a couple spots to get it to fit. That $1700 price doesnt include the $1000 worth of suspension parts youll need also. At least need to upgrade to a master power turbo, then your talking about $3000 or more just for parts. The KB is a simple bolt on basically that replaces the intake manifold. Slap it on there and go basically. Thats what I would do especially since your just looking for 400hp. It would only take a couple hours to put it on

The kb's bypass the air just like a centri kit does, so your not creating any boost untill your under a load.

Turbos can have a better power band and they make more torque. Full boost at 1500 rpm doesn't do you much good when you let out or get on it at 3500. A turbo car w/ equal power will still be faster and take less boost to make that same amount of power. The down side is that KB is much more forgiving (in that it is easy to get into the power band) and the butt dyno will say the KB is faster, but its not.

The hood is painted silver, in great shape, does need a color sand, but thats no biggie. Would prefer a swap for a silver one, but will consider many options. Need to trade due to changed plan on this car. RTP/Greensboro/Charlotte

Here is a link to a good turbo, that is complete and, looks good, ( you get what you pay for) and it has the options to upgrade, bout 1000 dollars more than the kenne bell, but you will get the full potential of a turbo vs kb
