1998 Mustang Cobra rearend noise

I have a 98 cobra and when I go over any speed bumps rather there small or big my rearend makes a thud/clunk sound (pretty loud) but i dont think its a strut but any suggestions??

only thing I can think of is your spare tire might not be tightened down. so it might be jumping around.
