Default ok guys, vortech deal. want your opinions

Ok so I am about to make a offer on a vortech v1 t-trim w/ some goodies and want your guys opinions. Heres what the guys gonna give me for $2k:
  • Vortech v-1 T-Trim
  • CX racing intercooler kit (don't know what that is to be honest) (31x12x3 with 3" piping and couplers)
  • Mounting bracket (does not include mounting hardware, I assume this means bolts etc, and does NOT come with alternator spacer)
  • No intake assembly
  • Comes with belt and 2 pulleys (3.25 and 3.33 6-rib pulleys)
  • extra steel factory idler pulley
  • two bypass valves (says bought them in a 2-pack)

With all that said, here is what I have figured out I will have to buy still:
  • Oil feed kit (to and from, about $50 total)
  • Mass Air Meter
  • 42lb Injectors
  • Fuel Pump
  • Hardware to mount bracket to car (and hardware for inter-cooler?)

am I missing ANYTHING?

Please chime in. I'm negotiating prices right now.

I guess I'm the first to chime in....

I think the price is high. I think the V1 retails new for $2200. The intercooler kit is $200? so for $2400 you can get this all brand new?

what are the details of head unit? Mileage? did you hear it run? etc Can you get the Serial number and call Vortech for some info on the unit?

Your parts list is spot on, but there are a lot of little missing parts. These little parts will start to add up.

I did this same thing with a V2, but I have a daily driver so I wanted reliability. The second I got my head unit I sent it to vortech for rebuild. I wanted a brand new fresh belt, etc With the rebuild, plus tuner and tune, I only spent about $2.5.

Also, you'll need a tuner (and a tune?).

Two great sites I used to find parts:
www.siliconeintakes.com/
www.superchargersonline.com

well the v1 t-trim (as far as I can find it) is actually around $2400... but thats besides the point.

I was thinking the same way as you though... I don't want to spend 8 weeks ordering miscellaneous nuts and bolts and connectors.

What do you think I should grab from him? here is his original post:

Quote:
"I have an intercooled V1 T-trim for sale for 01-04 2V mustangs the kit comes with #42lb injectors,MPH boost pipe,3.25 and 3.33 6-rib pulleys,I have 2 bosch bypass valves,Lightning mass air, also it comes with the radiator hose piece. It has a CX racing intercooler kit,the intercooler is 31x12x3 with 3" piping and couplers. All you will need is a fuel pump and the right bolts for your timing cover for the Vortech bracket, and the alternator spacer, and last but not least you'll need the pieces for your drain for the oil pan.
$2900.00 OBO"
what If I offered him $1500 for the injectors, head unit, and inter cooler? And just bought mounting hardware and intake sepp? (that way I had all the needed parts, for hte most part)

I do not know the miles on the super charger, and no I have not heard it run.

Model number: V1-T
serial number: 35210
carb number: d-213-20

thats not a bad deal, about what i paid for mine(v2sq) similar setup but no i/c, it also came with a 90mm lightning maf. its up to you honestly, but definately dont pay more than 2k for it try to talk him down.

just for reference i have since added 200 for my green top frpp 42lb inj, about 50 for my oil lines, and 60 for my svtf pump from someone local. cxracing kits go for 300ish on ebay, il be picking up one soon. i still also have to figure out which pully i want to run and get it. dont forget to budget in money for a tune.

Just to give you a reference point. I purchased a V-2 SQ complete kit from a guy. The only thing it was missing was the fuel pump and like 2 bolts. But it did come with a belt, intake, air filter, oil kit, discharge tube, 42lbs injectors, 90mm MAF, a couple of those bosch BBV all for $1900.

So you can buy this, but I think there are better deals out there.

i pieced together the 1500 kit from superchargers online and love it...yes im not intercooled however i still like my numbers...and will change this afternoon when i get my retune....i spent 1300 on my head unit from ebay....V2 with 5xxx miles on it.....200 on injectors from blueovalindustries.com and went with svt focus on ebay...80 shipped and kept the stock MAF and got a 180.00 mafia..to tune it....the guy at my speed shop that tunes my car told me never to piece together an intercooler kit just to go with a meth kit instead because its safer...so all together with those parts im at 1760.00 and even if you do go with the intercooler that is 300 your only at 2060 for NEW parts besides the headunit. just be smart about it and you should be fine.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Vorte...Q5fAccessories

this guy is selling a rebuilt head unit from vortech with the bracket and intake assembly the auction has a buy it now for 1750 or bid for 660 with reserve not met...1300 would probably win this for you with 1 day and 5 hours left..good luck with the build!

Ok well I just got off the phone with superchargers online and took the "discharge assembly" off the order since I am getting the intercoooler.

Here is what I am ordering from superchargers online:

Mounting assembly
Oil intake/drain assembly
Air-intake assembly

And this is what I think I am prepared to offer to the guy (to buy for $1500)

V1 t-trim
Intercooler
Fuel injectors

Do you think that its a decent offer? Or should I ask for more/less?

Favors you slightly, but it's not unreasonable.
