One of my friends has them and gained ~20rwhp. So you'll gain some, just not a lot

if you get cams go at LEAST stage 2. AT least then you will have most of that "cam" sound. Stage ones dont have much of a "lope" to them at all. I have stage 2 comp cams and I would consider it "mild" at best

They will give you more usuable power than most stage 2 cams (not necessarily higher peak numbers) if you have stock heads. 20 hp is very realistic.

BTW, if you don't want to change springs then check out Bullet Racing Cams. Nick at Modular Head Shop sell them, and they have some grinds that will outperform the Comp stage 1's, and will work with stock springs. I'll be going with these asap.

They use a lower lift, but have a more agressive LSA...especially on the intake side. This results in more total power for our cars. Because the lift and duration is tighter, you won't strees the stock springs as much

you mean that because most "stage 2" cams make there power from like 2500rpm to 6500 rpms (which is above my rev limit) right?

My buddys got a set of stage 1 comp cams and I really don't think he could get anywhere close to me in a race.

OP comp cam stage 1's will almost sound stock.

check the link in my sig for what stage 2's sound like. huge difference

*edit* stage 2 comp

i love how people shop for cams based on how they sound....."i gots me some stage 4s with stock heads because they sound ****ing sweet bra'....i only lost 30hp because they dont make power until 4k!"

stage 1s will be perfect for your goals...stock heads with no port work dont flow enough to warrant anything bigger than stage 1s

if you plan to ever port the heads, then i would step it up to stage 2s

honestly though...i think if anyones going to the trouble of pulling the heads for cams, they should have the heads sent to be ported...its not THAT expensive...get springs, port work on the heads, stage 2s, and a tune

better to just save up money and do it right the first time

On Comp's website they did a test between their various grinds, and the xe262ah made more power than the xe270ah until aroud 5k. From 5-6k the 270's made like 5 hp more i believe.

I'm sure the sound difference is noticable though.

If by stage 1 you mean 262Ah's then they'll give you 20-25rw depending on your other mods. They aren't great for boost but wont hurt much.
