Question is it possible to drive with a BAD clutch?

Can I drive my car to my buddies house about 3-5 miles away to replace it?
It makes a horrible sound when I press the clutch in- as if metal on metal is rubbing but not quite. It sounds bad and I feel like Im screwing up the trans. What good and bad can happen? Should I drive it from 1st-3rd-5th? is what I did when it got messed up away from home
let me know ya'll! if it's not possible I'll have to figure something out

If the clutch is engaging and you are able to move forward you should be fine. Make sure you get your Flywheel resurfaced if it really is metal on metal

cool. The flywheel can be resurfaced with some carborator cleaner and a soft piece of cloth correct?

Resurfacing is machining it back down, much like a brake rotor, and most machine shops can handle this. I would highly recommend it, especially on an older vehicle with some mileage, and definitely if there was any metal to metal wear.

I've driven 2 hrs on a bad clutch, culdnt go over 50 and I was on the highway w a 65 limit lol. Had to drop 4th a lot to regain speed, and couldn't give it much throttle at all lol. But I made it

And the machine shop I worked at charged 30 bucks to do a flywheel. I think most napas do them too... Takes 10 min to do, so u can just wait n take it back w you.

And yep I've blown a trans bad enough that all I had was 1st and 4th... 2nd was like neutral, 3rd was missing a majority of teeth so it didn't work well, and chunks of **** were blocking the linkage from getting into 5th... Drove a month or so like that... Hour commute to work everyday lol... Good times
