Default hissing from transmission...

Hey guys, hopefully you guys can help me figure out what the hell is wrong with my transmission. It shifts perfectly, no grinding, but there is a hissing sound in gears 1,2,3,5 and it almost sounds like two piece of metal scraping. It's definitely not gear whine, and its coming straight from below the shifter. Any ideas of what it can be??

Thank you for any help...

The TR-3650 is a loud transmission. Mine sounds like its going to blow up when I'm above 4k RPM in any gear. Still shifts fine though. You could try and change the fluid to see if it helps any.

thank you for your reply....

I changed the transmission fluid about 3 weeks ago and the sound wasn't noticeable until I changed my shift knob from the stock knob to a billet mach 1 knob. It literally sounds like the scraping sound is coming from straight under the shift boot. I'm worried about it because I didn't notice the sound in my friends 04 GT.

+1 If you have an aftermarket shifter you will definitely notice more noise coming from the transmission.

mine hisses for a while if it gets cold out for some reason, never have been able to figure it out. And it only happens if it gets cold out.. like in the 60s or colder at night (this is FL so it didnt do it all summer). It sounded like an exhaust leak to me so i took it to an exhaust shop, they said the hissing was coming from the transmission though. It goes away when the car is warmed up.
