Default Looking at getting a GT

Got in a wreck a couple weeks ago in my sixxer. Totaled the car. Looking into GT's now. Wanting a 99-02. Besides the obvious (miles, wear, 99 intake problem) what should I look out for?

Ticking, knocking, bad front end, smooth operation of the transmission, no grinding if it's a manual. Just make sure that it hasn't been ragged out.

^ What he said plus leaks and rear end noise. Also check the engine oil. Good luck!

ya, best way to see if the motor knocks or has been beat, pop the hood, while running, put ur finger on the throttlebody and juicce the motor, just give it a quick rev , just pull then let off, if u hear a clunk say thanks for your time, if u hear that it makes no sound, seriusly consider it, cause it hasnt been beat bad...also a lot of the tail shafts int he tr 3650 5 spds leak, u will see fluid on a lot of them , again if it isnt beat or powershifted to death, it will be dry under there, so goodluck on the hunt, i really suggest the late 2001-2004 gt, even with some miles on it, the 99-01 are good cars, but more beat, real high miles usually, and the t-45 in my opinion and first hand blows

^^^no 02s obv had the tremec 3650...and 99% in my mind came with the bullitt wheels, basically it is a cheaper version of the 03/04 gt price wise that is.. i had an 02 and it was every bit as good if not better than the 03/04 they have....02 is very underrated in my eyes ahahah

Yeah and honestly i don't see many 02's. I test drove an 02 Sonic Blue GT before i bought the one i have now, it didn't seem too different interior or exterior wise.

Found a 2000 yesterday. Good shape. Just looked over the outside. 5-speed. Black interior. Old man's car. Got it for his grandson. 105,000 miles

If it was an old man's car, it wouldn't have been his grandsons lol. Just be cautious with it. And do not rush into the buy. Some things I look for are different than some people. I really look at small details when buying a car. I like to see if the vents are intact, the cup holder adapter is there, the levels of all the fluids and colors, the cleanliness of the exhaust tips behind the bumper, old wax on trim and inside body spaces, tread on back tires compared to front, scratches in weird places, etc.... Looking at all of these small things really can give you a handle on how the car was maintained. Anybody can wax a car and say their grandpa owned it.

Good luck though man!
