I have been into drifting for about five years and I am looking to get a new car and the Mustang has always been in my mind (someone just crashed into my 350Z, totaling it). I don't really see anyone track-drift or regularly drift the 99-04 Stangs (I'm not talking about a burnout that goes to the side or does a 180 for a sec, I mean real drifting). I understand that the suspension, stance and general set-up of the car is for drag racing but I want to push the Mustang to it's handling limit. If anyone can let me know or point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
Thanks.

The general suspension setup for a mustang is pure everyday driver; and it sucks.
Youll need do mod the suspension to get decent results out of it. But in terms of platforms its not a bad place to start. It has plenty of torque to get sideways out of the box.
This would be interesting to know. There are all sorts of aftermarket parts to set-up a Mustang to do this, but generally these cars don't come to mind as a good drifting car.
I don't think i've seen anyone on these forums that does drifting.....just drag or cone dodging.
I think that would be awesome actually. Would be fun too if it weren't for the cost of tires heh. I don't see why yo couldn't get a good balance for drifting with the current aftermarket parts out there!

You can do it after/while raining(use your judgment dont go super fast) and you wont use up your tires hardly at all. you can "drift" at like 20-30mph in a controlled mannor. Its not intirly up to speed but its a good way to get a feel for the balance of the car. there is a vacant neighborhood(not built yet just paved streets) that ill go to and do stuf liek that.
lol I think we have almost all done that. But I was talking about actually doing it at an event. I have seen some cars drift at an autox but that's pretty low speed stuff.

TRADE MY Mach 1 HOOD + scoop set up for easy GT install (attached, no intake system necessary, unless you want it) for a COWL hood and maybe STOCK + CASH (but probably not). The hood is painted silver, in great shape, does need a color sand, but thats no biggie. Would prefer a swap for a silver one, but will consider many options. Need to trade due to changed plan on this car. RTP/Greensboro/Charlotte
