Default terrible night at the drg strip...

So tongiht i was really antsy about racing. i did some weight reduction to the car(bumper support, rear seat delete, trunk is gutted) i have some toyo proxes that do good on the street. and i was going to spray a 75 shot.

My previous best has been a 9.10 at 78 mph without an o/r h pipe.

Tonight i had my exhasut and my tune back from sct and the tune for nitrous.

1sr run i planned on spraying it but i was low on nitrous and my bottle pressure was down to 850. i sprayed it anyway only to have the car die on the top end.

i let out pretty easy and punched it only to spin my way to a 2.300 60" i didnt spray it until third gear but it pulled flat being the pressure of the bottle. The final time was a 9.518 at 82.099 mph with the 2.300 sixty

my next run i shut off the nitrous and i did a good burn out. i turned the dial to setting 3 which is the performance tune. i rolled out to a ****ty 2.458 sixty foot crossing the line at 9.579 at 78.516 mph.

what the hell is going wrong. i have all this suspension and i cant hook to save my life. i leave the line at about 1800 and pedal it but soon as i touch the gas it spins. I ran better before with my ****ty kumho's. i atleast got to 2.2 out of those. what should my car be at? im frustrated right now.

dont rev the motor at the light. take off light you would at a stoplight, i was doing the same as you and was getting 2.2 60', now i just punch it when the light turns green and went down to 2.01. also get some DR or better, that would help a bunch.

3 things that will help your spinning: 1. Tires 2. Tires and 3. Tires

Hope this helps! lol

well i guess that is my net mod. Tires i believe im going with are the e/t streets. They seem to do well. im just pissed bc my friend has the same car as me almost.....he doesnt have the pi heads, but he does have the pi cams and intake and stock exhaust except flowmaster weldins and on a 100 shot on e/t slicks he cuts a 1.6 60 ft and goes 85 mph at 8.1 he also has the same gears as me 373's and he doesnt have near the suspension i do. ugh!!!

Tires make all the difference. For me going from Sumitomo street tires to Nitto dr's made 4/10 sec. difference alone.

Tires make a world of difference, after my suspension goes in, I am getting DR's before going back to performance. You could have 1000hp, but it won't matter if you can't get it to the pavement. I cut 2.0x 60's from a 1200 launch in a auto. That is on the stock goodyears. That seems to be the sweet spot for my car.

seriously? any night that your car makes it home from the drag strip without broken parts should be considered a good night...
