Just got off the phone with Advanced engine development and for the 2v build I want it's gonna cost around 6 grand. 5.2l sohc p/p heads, intake, and built alum bottom end. I would love to run a tt setup, just not sure how it's gonna get past refs.

I've heard that there are a few places in california where you don't have to get smogged, I could be wrong, but I've had several people tell me that so far.
Probably one of the reasons that most people go blower is to say emissions legal, which you may have to do, but other than turbo, I think a centri is your best bet for the kind of driving you do.
A twin screw wouldn't be good through a road course, on an auto-x you may be able to get away with it, I've seen alot of people having to ice the blower after each run, but during an open track event, you'll be overheating very, very quickly (from what I have experienced, I know a couple KB guys that have tried to race me during a track event, and were unable to make it more than two laps.

Bingo, I was wondering if anyone would say this. You could do a FI setup on your car for HPDE's, but its not desirable. 500rwhp sounds sexy, but on a road course its not gonna get you very far. IMO, forced induction for drag racing and street driving, naturally aspirated for road racing, HPDE, etc. This is part of the reason why I sold my 04 Cobra to go over to the C5Z. I was able to change the pulley to stock size just to combat the heat I would get with a small pulley setup. Even then, just can't push the car hard all out every lap like you can with a NA motor.
Also, I bet that you could go faster in a well setup mustang gt at stock power level than you could with your car at 500rwhp. I have seen it done. If it was me and I wanted to daily drive/street/HPDE a mustang, this would be my general mod list...
Intake, Tune, Exhaust, Shocks, Springs, Swaybars, Brake pads, Brake fluid, Race seat, Harness bar, Harness, Track rims, Hoosier R6's or Kuhmo V710's or Nitto NT05's or Faulken Azenis, FLSFC's, and lots of seat time.

this I know all too well, as far as setup goes. Suspension is pretty much right where I want it to be. However the car is mainly DD, I doubt I will bring it to the track anymore as I am now tempted to pick up a race suit and bring my bike out. Last run at thunderhill was alright as I had a best lap of 2:30 I believe, which isn't anywhere near great as I lost a ton of time due to me being a puss through the cyclone (t5)=/ it's still a bit too scary for me since I crushed both cats the time before that bottoming out on that turn.
Small single turbo would be sooooo much better for you to reach 500rwhp. I mean you wouldnt have much spool time and it would be reliable because you wouldnt need probably more than 8psi of boost. And with that, you can use cats. So it shouldnt be too bad for emissions. I mean with a built bottom end, you could probably just up the boost and get somewhere close to 500rwhp and still have the stock heads and cams.

California has visual inspections.
I've decided to go with a novi 2000 air/air ic setup. Unsure if I'm gonna go with the mongoose kit and delete the sct tune or if I'm gonna check with my friend to see how much his shop can get it for.
What does that have to do with it??? If you have cats on there, you have cats on there and there shouldnt be anything to worry about right??? I mean I want a hellion single turbo kit for my car and id get some v-band clamps and put a cat in the downpipe for emissions and take it off when i get back. I mean that shouldnt be that hard to pass would it???

you obviously haven't dealt with smog nazis. They don't care if there are cats, if its not 4 cats with the pipes in the form of an h then you're f'd, if the engine has anything that looks different from the photo of a stock engine, you better hope to god there is a carb # on it. Getting the car smogged isn't an issue, it's just the worry of what if I get a fix it ticket or if for some reason I get selected to goto a gold shield smog shop...=/
Ok, i gotcha now. Here we have emissions and stuff and as long as there is a catalytic converter present and the scanner doesnt pick anything up, we're golden. But i can now see what your problem is. So superchargers as big as the novi 2000 are emission compliant in cali???

yea, turbo kits can easily pass emissions, it's just that a lot of hpturbo and hellion doesn't want to pay to put their kits through carb cert
