Ok so I am trying to prep everything for when my cams get here. I have been trying to remove my damn driver side valve cover for like an hour or more. I have it loose and have the gasket all loose. But it seems there just isn't enough clearance to get the stupid thing out. It keeps hitting on what looks like the brake booster and sometimes on the sensor in the brake fluid res. I can't seem to get the connector off that sensor either. It's being a bitch. Any help for getting this cover out of the car? Also if you want to throw in tips for when I get to the pass side will be helpful as well. Thanks guys.

Ugh I have gotten like 4 bolts out of the brake booster and can't hardly get the last one on the bottom. Is there an alternative to pulling this booster? I either hit it or I hit the freaking girdles on the cam in the rear. I can get the valve cover straight up and down and it still hits.

Um, you shouldn't have to take that out to get the cover off..... Wondering if you have a broken motor mount that is tilting the engine that way, have you tried jacking that side of the motor up?

No I haven't tried doing that. I am pretty sure the mounts are good. I have basically no movement of the motor if it's revved. Stays in place nicely. I heard some people say they had to remove the brake booster to get the cover off..

Unless the PI motor has different valve covers than the NPI, no you don't. I took mine off several times trying to diagnose a ticking. Never had to remove the booster.

brake booster? master cylinder? these cars are hydroboost cars
you shouldnt need to remove anything....if you think driver side is hard, my advice for passenger side is take it to a shop
**edit seeing the google pic, i see where the HB unit is located....now i know what youre talking about....but theres tons of room, you shouldnt need to remove that....
There does appear to be alot of room. But the back portion is hitting the HB unit. Not to mention it's getting stuck on the rear of the head. There isn't enough clearance for it to pull the rest of the way out...
not really trying to be a dick or anything...but theres no advice anyone can give you...it should pull right out...wiggle it some more, it'll come
trust me, i know the frustration...trying to get the back supercharger bolt out on my old harley f150 sucked...read on a forum that everybody else just pulled theirs out and all it took was wiggling...it took me a solid 10 mins to get it out, and then putting it back in i actually got so frustrated i trimmed the stud off the top of the bolt where the bracket mounted, and just didnt mount the bracket back there lol *bracket had 2 other places it bolted down*
just keep at it man, wiggle wiggle wiggle....pretend its a virgin and youre about to do some work son
