Default Comp Cams

looking for some comp cams that give me a nice muscle car idle when im at a stoplight but i don't have the money to do all the mods for a stage 2, i was wondering if they make a stage 1 cam that sounds pretty nice? i was also wondering if it is better than stock cams by any chance

The XE262AH is their stage 1 cams. They will have a small lope (not as good as the stage 2's though) and will be FAR better than the stockers. In fact (it's on Comps website) the 1's made better power than the 2's till 5k, where the 2's were only like 5 hp more from 5-6k.

There are better cams imo! Especially if staying n/a. I'm not saying Comps are bad (far from it) but you should check out CMS, Hitech, and Bullet. I'm going with Bullet when i do mine. I'm also staying with the stock springs for now, which will save a lot of money as well. They have grinds that make great power, and do not require a spring change if you go with the correct lift, and don't plan to rev past 6k.

I've got cams in the back of my head as well. I know install would be somewhat involved given what you have to do to get to them, but is this a pretty straight forward swap? Swap the cams and then have it dyno tuned right? I wonder how much a mechanic would rape me on labor on this.. I'd probably go with stage 1, just from what I have read. Are we looking at 25-30 rwhp?

With comps you must degree them, so install is a bit more involved than just dropping them in.

I would look elsewhere than comps. I did about 10 hours of research collectively looking at all the different cam grinds and comparing dyno charts..etc

The best cams that I found consistently were always hitechs and CMS. From there for me it went down to what LSA do I want to run. I chose the slightly larger LSA of the hitechs because the car will be more streetable(not saying CMS arnt, but the lower your LSA the less vacuum your running). Im tuning my own car after I get done with the swap so anything I can do to make my car easier to tune is a-ok with me lol.

happy hunting.

I have the stage I's I want stage II's though haha. They dont really have too noticable of an idle but they sound agressive when you get on it. They say the range is like 1400 to 5500 but i would say its more like 2200 to 5200 Maybe. I would say go for them with the mods you have. Unless you wana buy me a stage II set and ill give you my stage ones and cash? haha

The whole point in the stage 3's where to get better top end and by far do i get ALOT better top end and to make the car sound like no other on the road, I think I have accomplished that.

And I promise there is no substitute from the "little much" of the bad *** lope you get out of the cams. The video gives no justice to the sound when your up close and personal with her. There is nothing better then driving through a group of people at a car meet and hearing "Damn that thing is cammed out".

I little much maybe and I say that in the most sarcastic way possible.

So "Pretty much, yea" you have to love it.
