Another one of these threads

I don't know what it is with being opposed to f/i or nitrous. Full bolt ons with H/C/I will get you into your goal or just a s/c will do the trick for less.

And it really all depends on what 4.6 motor youre talking about. If you have a 96-98, heads and cams might be your best bet. But if youve got a 99-04, then the blower will be your best bet. The non-pi 96-98 4.6 heads dont flow that great and you wont see the gain you want to see with a blower and you can do the CMS head/cam packages and get somewhere about where you want to for anywhere from $1800-2500. So its up to you and depends on what 4.6 you have.

My whole motor was 3 grand including the dyno tune? So how is that more than a $4200 blower? thats without tax and shipping plus youll need a dyno tune after so add another 300-600 dollars. And in saying that im not one to avoid going f/i i dont get why people are against it either? but hes looking to do it na which can be achieved with h/c/i its just not as efficent as you are saying.

Not true. I’ve been running 370 rwhp on a stock motor for 2 ½ years and 50,000 miles. The limit on the rods on a completely stock motor is around 450 bhp (crank). To convert rwhp to bhp divide the rwhp by 0.88 (manual transmission). I'm running approximately 420 bhp.

Since 8 lbs of boost normally get 350 rwhp you obviously have other supporting mods that help the motor handle the stress. Headers, cams, anything that helps the flow of air through the motor will get you more rwhp will a little less stress on the rods.

Looking at your list of mods that was not the easiest way to get 290 rwhp and if you only paid $3,000 you probably did the work yourself.

The easiest and cheapest way to 350 rwhp is MPH’s Mongoose kit on a completely stock motor (no bolt ons). $3,900 for the kit that includes everything you need including the tune. Installation is extra.

I payed under 4 grand installed and tuned for a brand new blower and have about 350whp, it isn't going to be all that much more for me to bump up the power at this point either.

He never said he wanted it NA.

No, you can usually find them used on ebay or craiglist. Search for the "$2000 supercharger kit" thread. I mean you have to put the kit together yourself but its a lot cheaper than buying a kit from a dealer or directly from paxton or vortech.

That cheap for the whole kit, yes it would most likely be used. http://superchargersonline.com/headunits.asp this is a site that is good for piecing together a kit. Some buy new components and get a used head unit, some get a whole used kit, and some buy a new kit. Used blowers can be found on the classifieds on this site, craigslist, ebay, corral.net in the forum classifieds and so on.

I actually had the work done for once lol. I usually do everything myself but i needed it done fast cause its my DD. And if he knew i had gears in at the time he wouldve put stage II cams in. So i wouldve been over or at least at 300rwhp with a good dyno tune. That tune in my sig was with the back brakes dragging and the dumba$$ didnt put a pilot bearing in so you had to shift around 5000 cause of the horrible shaking which i still dont understand how he didnt notice but he ended having to pay for a new tranny for me haha. The timing wasnt even touched he said. And trust me im not saying this is the better way to go. The only reason i did the motor was cause the old one went on me... If that wasnt the case i wouldve bought a blower hands down.
