Default Supercharger at junkyard?

Hey guys... I was wondering if anyone here has any experience pertaining to finding a supercharger at a junkyard for a 99-04 GT. It would be a daily driver stang that I would like to see get around 375-400 rwhp. What cars would I have to look for at the yard that might have a blower that could be used for the mustang? What are the chances of finding one? Thanks in advance.

there is no way ull find a car with any kind of turbo/super charger in a junk yard.... at least if they care about buisness they would of taken it off the car themselves and sold it beofre you just found it browsing the yard. at least that what I would think. ur best place to find a nice cheap (er) super charger is on ebay or craigslist.

Yeah, most junkyards take the blowers out with the motors and try to sell it whole, others are more willing to separate the blower from the engine. That is not something you will find still sitting in the car in the yard.

I have never bought a used blower or turbo for that matter but this thread and post brings up a question that I have.
When buying used, wether it be craigslist or whatever, what do you look for to make sure that you are'nt just buying a paperweight?

IMO it's kind of risky if the blower isn't on the car and you can't see it working.

You could see if it turns smoothly by hand and has no shaft play. Of course the lower the claimed mileage on it the better as well.

you will be VERY lucky (just as lucky as winning the lotto) to find a vortech or a kenne bell or something in a junkyard. if the previous owner doesnt yank it, the junkyard will. however if you buy a used blower that you know NOTHING about, send it in to get a rebuild. its a few hundred bucks and will be good as new or they will tell you its toast. much better than gambling putting it on your motor.

I don't think I'd ever buy one used, just due to the fact that I don't know what to look for. I just see them for sale regularly, and was just trying to get insight as to what a used one is worth and what to look for. I have, personally, owned them but never had to mess with them, mechanically, to know what goes bad in them or whatnot.
