Default $5,000 for 400HP HELP!!!

Hi everyone, I have a budget of $5,000, and I want to reach 400HP on my 96 GT, please help me with some suggestions or tips. I'm hoping to do this within the next two weeks. I'm open to any power adder except for N02. Right now i'm thinking of an inter cooled vortech kit at 10PSI, but I really want a roots type blower that will fit my motor. Is it possible with some Livernois NPI-PI adapters(I think is was Livernois, but it may be someone else). Anyway is it possible? I'm so confused on what to do right now.

Thanks,

PI swap and turbo or supercharge it. Good luck with on3.

The PI heads would bump compression making it not a good idea to do it with FI. Although adding just PI cams and intake manifold would add some nice power and still add FI.

Like stated above, the heads are not the problem with the NPIs, it's the intakes. So, if you're going with a Vortech centri kit, at least do a PI intake swap and get a decent set of blower cams to help you. Just remember, once you start putting 400hp down, other things start to give out such as the clutch, transmission, and other things that weren't built to handle 400hp. Good luck though. I wish I had 5K to spend on my car lol.

I assume you you're talking 400 rwhp??? With a PI cams, intake and 10psi you should hit that, but you'll need meth or a intercooler to run that much boost effectively.

People that are advising to PI swap and then go FI are giving bad advise. Unless going with forged internal the stock rods and/or pistons won't last 150 miles. Compression ratio of 10.5:1 with a blower equals trouble. And secondly, why is everyone still saying that the NPI engines are crap? As stated above, the heads aren't the weak link, they can be ported and flow the same as ported PI heads. The difference is the cams and intake manifold. My advise is to get a set of cams, PI intake manifold, and Vortec with a tune to start. After that suspension, gears, exhaust, and upgrade clutch.
