Default cam install price

What can I expect to pay for a shop to install cams and tune my car. I have searched and haven't found anything. Also, what do yall think about comp cams? Thanks in advance.

With springs...probably $500-800 on the install alone

It's not cheap

Yep, my shop quoted me $400 for the install of just cams, and $850 for cams and springs. This is with the motor in the car.

What Comp's are you looking at? IMHO, there are better cams out there. Cams that are more specific to your individual application.

Check out Modular Head Shop's Bullet Racing cams. The guy who owns it has done a lot of research in this area, and has developed some really awesome grinds.

I have gotten quotes anywhere from $600 to $900 with springs. I would look at Hitechs or Cushman cams before Comps.

The shop I talked to quotes me prices on comp cams so I guess thats what they reccomend. It was about $400 for install and $600 for the cams, $300 to tune. They suggested comp 274h. BTW the shop I am talking about is JMS in south MS.

The 274's are a horrible choice for a stock head PI stang IMO. First of all there's a good chance you'll have ptv contact if they're installed at the advertised specs. In order for them to safely clear, they'll need to retard the ICL. That in itself will cost you power. Secondly, the specs are too large. Even if you get them to clear the stock heads, they won't make very good usuable power.

Oh, and lastly, the 274's are for the NPI motors. Making them an even worse choice.
