Do I have to have Headers if..
I'm debating on getting long tube headers because of my state emissions, i have to have cats... i have a procharger and was planning on getting cams, stage II/III supercharger cams. They say i have to have exhaust modifications. Can i do all of this and keep my stock manifolds? i only ask because im thinking i may have to have a custom exhaust job to fit everything, the H pipe won't be long enough for two cats. maybe shorty's instead of long tubes? i have a stock h-pipe with convertors, trying not to make a trailer queen out of er

yeah if you want to have lt headers just look into getting a shorty mid pipe thats catted that will keep it ok emissions. I have the same problem as you but i just bought the bbk lt headers and the catted x pipe have yet to install them so i couldnt tell you how hard the job is going to be though

You can roll with a catless sorty mid-pipe. Just hope when they pull you over only to get a fix-it ticket. Then just swap the o/r pipe for the catted one(30min). I'm sure the police won't say anything anyway. It's a Mustang, they think it's supposed to be loud. Well, here in CA it's that way. 2yrs and not once have I gotten pulled over.

You dont NEED longtube headers...but what you DO NEED is to get at least a catted midpipe. You can use stock manifolds, but you will show more gains from longtubes. With a supercharger, i would suggest longtubes and a catted midpipe, as they will provide decent gains with a blower with s/c cams. But they are by no means necessary.

You could get the SLP full length mid pipe. That way if you want to keep your stock headers you can and if you want to go with long tubes the mid pipe can convert to a shorty.
Thats what I have on now and I got my long tubes in the garage waiting to be installed.

Unless your state does a visual inspection you should be able to get away with lt's and no cats. Only reason you would get stopped would be if it's obnoxiously loud, and only reason you would not pass inspection would be cause of a CEL. Here in Jersey however, they actually look udner your car at the inspection station sometimes so you need to be careful. Try to look into how strict your state really is about these things and go from there.
