You can have pistons notched to allow for biggers cams. I have mmr 800 short block did not notch pistons and have CMS 2.5 blower cams with stock heads no problems.

If your cam is dd i would not go to big on cams. Also if you go with MMR 800 with forged crank you will need a cobra 8 bolt flywheel as well.

I just completed my build it was 10k (2k of which was install) it included MMR 800 short block, felt pro head gaskets, ARP bolts, CMS 2.5 blower cams, Beehive springs and retainers, 60 injectors, BAP, MRT mid pipe, Sniper commando software, new clutch, cobra flywheel, LCAs, MMR oil pan, Cobra oil pump, etc etc.

If you are going to spend 10k on 1998 mustang is a total waste of money you will never get it back. My suggestion would be to piece together new pistons and then sell your car. Then put your 10 K plus sale proceeds to a much newer vehicle.

i know you don't want financial advice, but just think about it for a minute. what happens if that motor blows or you crash your car and you still owe money on the motor? you will be royally fubared. its a 98 and the insurance company will stick it up your pooper. it's ultimately your choice...it just sounds really risky to me.

Drop a 5.4L in there an sell the car. You can get a 5.4L done for 1k..

If not cobra motor would be your best bet. You can get them for 4-6k all you need is to modify the harness. You now have a forged supercharged motor that is 4v...

Dude u say u want to go big, yet u only got 10k to spend, ya by the the time you get a motor n drivetrain ready to go big you won't have enough for a power adder... Imo I think with ur buget the choice is clear by a LONG shot, go with a 03/04 cobra motor, you won't be disappointed... btw, loan for mods, bad idea. Next time you ask for advice I wouldn't share that little bit of information, u get bashed for it, as u can see.

find an 03/04 donor car. you'll have to swap a lot of things over.
