So are some people saying I CAN'T raise compression WITHOUT DECREASING PTV clearance? Is that what I am reading?

Shaving the deck or block or adding domed piston is what cause ptvc. Increased compression is what happens because of doing those things. So I understand what you mean by compression affecting ptv clearance but its the thing you do to increase the compression not the compression itself that affects clearance. By creating valve relief or machining the intake valve compression has nothing to do with it.

But this is something that will go on and on so i will bow out of this one.

Dude if you dont know dont toss around false info. Putting a flat top piston in a car with higher cam lift will result PTV sometimes. Yes it depends on a piston and if it has relief cuts in them. My didnt and it worked out jus fine

oh? So I can create some new cam profiles with .650" lift and not worry about PTV issues?

So if I have a built bottom end in my 2V with 18cc pistons (say originally built for a blower) and decide to switch up my plans and go N/A, and swap out the 18cc dish pistons for 5cc dish pistons. Am I increasing compression and am I changing PTV clearance?
