Default 275/40-17s on Stock Starfish?

Hey guys - so this past weekend, me and TrueBlue went to the track (it was my first time going), and had a good time. Unfortunately, my tires suck. A lot. I need to get new tires, and was wondering if 275/40-17s will fit in the stock starfish wheels? My friend said he was running them, I was just wondering if any adverse effects would come out of it.

275s belong on a 9" wheel. 245s belong on 8" wheels.

Yeah, I thought so. Would the 275 perform much better than a 245, if theyre the same make?

I'd pretty much just buy a good tire in a 245/45-17 and be done with it. If you have the right tire, you'll be fine with the stock width.

But to answer your question, any additional width to the tire will help. But bulging the tire like that on an 8" wheel will not make you have any more tread width on the road. Keep with a 245.

I say just buy some 18x9 rims for the front and 18x10 for the back and I will sell you a set of 265/35zr18's for the front rims and you can buy some 295-305's for the back. I have those front ones in NITTO INVO's..I just have too many and want to get rid of them.

I cut a 1.857 60' on a 275/40 MT on stock suspension. *stock 8" starfish*

Traction wise they appear to work just fine.

They were a little soft on hard corners though

I ran 275/40 on 17x8 Bullitts (winter wheels). They where Kumhos so they ran narrow. They were as wide as BFG 245s on the same rim once mounted.

I'd get a 245/45/17 Yokohama S Drive tires because these tires are the best tires
I ever used on a mustang.

I have the 275/40/17 nitto nt555rs on my 8'' wheel and it rides good. However, after about 8k miles or so, minimal track time, I am noticing that the tire is wearing about 1inch in from each sidewall instead of the whole tire wearing evenly. Maybe drag radials do this but I don't think it should be that way.
