im running 4.10s on a 4r70w auto. they are ok but i wish i went with 4.56s or steeper. this is a full drag car now, but on the street the 4.10s are perfect until 70mph. then you are taching 3200rpms in overdrive. at the track with the 4.10s i can go to the stripe in drive without overdrive activated at about 6300rpms.

You should recalibrate your speedo. 3,000 in OD with stock tires would be almost 80mph.

OP,
Don't pay any attention to all of these douchbags!!!
You have to be honest with yourself about what you want the car to do. If it will be strictly a street driven daily driver, you may want to go with 3.73s. Bump that up to 4.10s if you have an auto trans. If you want the car to make decent passes at the track and still be decent for street use, you can bump up the 3.73s to 4.10s and consider bumping the 4.10s up to 4.30s(I wouldn't go to 4.30s, but some would). If you will add boost in the future, stay with 3.73s.
Try to ignore all of the ignorant comments from the others!!!

Yeah, with my 27" slicks I see like 2300rpm at 70mph

2.73's, t-56 swap, and an a$$load of power.... so you might be a slug off the line... you're top end will be lotsa fun street racing LOLOZLoZLZOlZLoLOl

seriously tho... 3:73's are prob the best gear in my opinion. Wont be too drastic of a change from stock RPMs so it wont hurt MPG that bad vs 4:10s, but it gives you a perfect bit of pep... and if you end up adding big power later on you wont wreck your tires as fast as you will with 4:10's or higher...

+1. consider your goals for the future....

I always thought i was going to supercharge this car, so i went with 3.73's.

Then i decided to get a street bike. So now i can run 11's whenever i want... I dont think i need 2 vehicles that fast... The stang is fun for what it is and it's definitely nice to look at, but I still may eventually get a blower. My mind is always changing. But i think if i knew i was going to get a bike, i would have went 4.10's and just sucked it up for highway driving... Right now the 3.73's are at my limit for highway driving. Any higher of RPM's and it would probably bother me since i cruise at 80 all the time. (yeah i know i know. 80 is speeding. But that's the flow of traffic around here on the highway i travel to school)

I always prefered FRPP 3.73's for street/strip.

and off topic but this is off the factory tach which also shows me shifting at 7500 rpms on the stock bottom end, heads and cams. so this could be a little off
