Default The quest for better Times!

Okay so after going to the track last night and having a blast I was disapointed in my times
Mainly my ET and my 60! my traps were up from my bolt on times and i know i could get them up with more practice since i raised them almost 3mph by cutting my 60 almost .5
So this is what im thinking btw my 60's were between 2.4 - 2.6 and im on Nexan N3000's 255 right now

Griggs PHB (already have it)
Griggs TA
UCA and quad shock delete
Stock springs and shocks with 4cyl shocks up front
FLSFCs (already have)
NT 555R's 17 40 275 ( i have 17x9's )

Mods are in Sig making 360 right now will be around 400 when i get my meth tune in the summer. How do you think this set up would hook?

That would be a great set up for road racing but not so much for drag racing.

i thought the PHB and TA would help with launches as well as the turns?
What would u change? right now i have the Mach springs and they definately arent helping me cut better 60 ft times i figured the NT 555R's would help alone get better times

Ditch the TA, get coilovers in the rear with adjustable shocks like QA1 or strange, baseline pro launch uppers and comp engineering lowers.

dang i finally though i would hit a decent well rounded set up! seems as if i already started heading down the cornering road. Do you think with the new tires i could cut my times back enough to get a decent time?

What ETs and Traps are you hitting now?
Looks like practice should help your 60' quite a bit. It takes practice and self-control, but street tires on a stock suspension can produce 2.0 60' times.

No question that DRs would help your 60' times and therefore your ETs. The TA set-up should improve your traction, but I don't believe it is practical for improving your 60' times. If drag racing is the focus, get a pair of Lakewood lift lower control arms and a pair of DRs (probably a good idea to reinforce the torque boxes). You WILL see a significant drop in 60' times.

Remove the front swaybar before going to the track to allow for better weight transfer (and to drop 20lbs from the car). Relocating the battery to the right rear corner of the trunk is also pretty easy and good for your launches.

GOOD LUCK!

I would ditch the Nitto's and get a pair of Mickey Dr's. I run those on my LSC and get 1.79-1.80 60ft's. My 02 GT vert on a really good day gets a 1.90 but will average a 1.99-2.0. I have KYB adjustables all the way around and some cheap Summit lower control arms. That car has 275/40-17 BFG Dr's on it.

well its mainly a street car DD i might start going to the Drag strip once a month cause we have unlimited runs for $10 once a month.

i did notice that the practice will help
I posted my times in the Drag and Strip section but they were
2.601 2.508 2.484
9.335 9.123 9.082
84.74 84.94 86.89
I dont really know How to get a better 60ft. my first two times i was over excited and tried to hold my brake while building the RPMS then i let off and went up in smoke. The third time i tried to take off a little more slowly but THEN i mashed the gas and did the same.
-As for the TA i have the PHB so i mine as well do the 4 link right and add it as well to make it better rounded overall.
-I will take off the front sway next time and also have 100pounds less from the car but i cant relocate my battery because I have a convertible with the MACH1000 system and a Meth tank in the small trunk lol

I agree with the MT ET Streets, but ONLY if they will be on spare rims and used just for passes at the track. They will wear much to fast and not be good for rain conditions on a DD. If they will be daily street tires, the 555R's are absolutely the way to go. Just heat them up REAL well to get the stick you need at the track.

You posted a response while I was typing... LOL

It just takes practice to learn what your tires can hold in the way of traction.
The HP you are making should get you higher traps in the 1/8. Trap is more a measure of power to weight ratio, so I would think your power should get you to 89-90mph in the 1/8. With DRs, I would think you should shave more than a full second off those ETs.

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE and have FUN!
